Our Site Locator application for
Android, iPhone, Blackberry, Symbian and Windows Phone 7 lists nearest sites and their details and
displays them on native maps making use of the location and touch screen capabilities
of the phone.
- Nearest sites are displayed as pushpins or
logo icons
a map which can be zoomed and a panned using simple finger
actions native to the device. Logo icons can reflect the brand of
individual sites. On Blackberry rollerball devices, zoom and pan are
supported by virtual and hardware keys.
- Selecting a site on the map on touch screen
phones displays its details and on selected platforms includes a
routing/itinerary option.
- Routes and itineraries from the current location to a
selected site are supported on selected platforms. On Windows Phone
7 this is achieved within the application. Due to licensing on other
platforms this is achieved by passing start and end locations to an
application such as Google Maps.
- Option for users to save a site type filter
for selecting sites appropriate to them.
- Quick response through the intelligent
combination of network and GPS location and by minimising data
transmission
- Easy to download from the appropriate app
store
- Context sensitive help.
We provide a complete service including:-
- Sites geocoding to street level accuracy
- Creation of the sites database in an
appropriate downloadable format
- Branding and other types of customisation
including additional optional features which we are pleased to
discuss.
- Uploading of the application to the
application stores
- Application approval - mandatory for the
Apple and Microsoft stores
- Email support - mandatory for the Apple store
but also good practice.
For Blackberry, we offer two
implementations for different versions of the Blackberry operating
system:-
- Blackberry Rollerball which only required
version 4.5 or above of the operating system and works on most
Blackberries.
- Blackberry Touch which requires version 6.0
or above of the operating system and works on the most recent
Blackberries such as the 9800.
The different map styles are illustrated by screen
dumps left.
